Our current topic

Starting in October 2014, the Forum switched its focus to the land outside towns and cities and how that land is used to support people through agriculture, ecosystem services, and biodiversity.

Alison Smith, Bhaskar Vira and Howard Griffiths are helping to lead and shape this discussion and through it, we are exploring a range of interconnected issues related to food security, food versus fuel, water use, and natural versus managed environments, all against a background of a changing climate.

In May, a meeting brought together representatives from the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, the Food Security Initiative and Energy@Cambridge to begin to talk about the overlaps and synergies between these three areas. These have been used to help shape and focus the Forum's topic, and more information will be posted on the website as the topic evolves.
