Dr Elisabete Silva is a University Senior Lecturer in Planning in the Department of Land Economy at the University of Cambridge. She is course co-ordinator for "Urban and Environmental Planning I" and "Planning Policy and Practice". Her research interests are centred on the application of new technologies to spatial planning, especially city and metropolitan dynamic modelling through time. In particular using the following subject areas: Land Use, Transportation and Metropolitan Planning; Regional Planning, Integrated Planning; GIS and PSS, and AI Models (CA/ABM/GA).
Dr. Silva holds a PhD in Regional Planning (University of Massachusetts), a Masters in Regional Planning (FCT, UNL), and a BA in Physical Geography and Planning (UNL). She is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Charter Surveyors, a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and is currently the Chair of AESOP "Best Paper Price Committee", which nominates the best annual paper published amongst 48 international peer review journals and the Chair of the AESOP NTTG research working group.
Prior to taking up her current post Dr Silva was an affiliated Lecturer at the School of Engineering of the Catholic University, Portugal. She was a researcher at the American "National Centre for Geographical Information and Analysis", University of Massachusetts, Lisbon Technical University and of the National Centre for Geographical Information.
