Biography

Dr Marc Ozawa began his career in Russia and Kazakhstan analysing the first joint ventures following the collapse of the Soviet Union. More recently, Marc was Associate Director of the Energy Policy Forum and Policy Research Associate for Energy@Cambridge. Concurrently, Marc served as Specialist Adviser to the Energy and Climate Change Committee (House of Commons), Supervisor at Pembroke College and the Dept. of Politics and International Studies (U. of Cambridge), and Guest Researcher at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies. Previously, he was a researcher and analyst of European, Eurasian and North American natural gas at Harvard Business School and Cambridge Energy Research Associates (IHS CERA). At Harvard, he investigated the changing business environment for foreign investors in the Russian energy sector. As a CERA energy analyst, Marc examined the natural gas industry and was a regular contributor to the Monthly Gas Briefing. He was also Senior Editor of the Yale Journal of International Affairs and has advised corporations and government agencies on matters of energy markets, security and conflict resolution. His current work focuses on the role of trust in international energy trade, partnerships, and negotiations. In addition to studies at Moscow State University Lomonosov and Yakutsk State University, Marc is a graduate of the University of Alaska, Yale University and completed a Master’s and PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Cambridge.
