Biography

Dr Peeter Pärt has worked for the European Commission’s DG Joint Research Centre since 1997, most recently as Advisor in Human Health and Environment Interactions in the Institute of Environment and Sustainability. In this function he has been following Environment, Human Health and Ecotoxicology related issues in the Commission, including chemicals (specifically endocrine disruptors), air- and water pollution, noise, electromagnetic field etc.  Together with colleagues at the European Environment Agency he has authored 2 reports on Environment Health in Europe, 2005 and 2013. His scientific background is in comparative physiology, aquatic toxicology and ecotoxicology. Before joining the European Commission, he was lecturer in ecotoxicology at Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden. He served for 10 years (1995-2005) as Editor-in-Chief of Aquatic Toxicology (Elsevier). His CV includes 74 papers in the area of aquatic physiology and toxicology and additional papers and reports dealing with environment and human health related matters.
