Biography

Søren got a Danish degree in Chemical Engineering from The Engineering Academy of Denmark – graduating January 1993 and equivalent to the German degree “Diplom-Ingenieur”. Soren re-joined University of Cambridge as a Senior Research Associate (SRA) in August 2014, to develop work in the area of Material and Energy Efficiency in the industries that supply clothing and textiles to UK consumers.

Soren has about 20 years professional experience working with sustainability in the fashion, clothing and textile sectors. From his R&D thesis on “Recycling of process water from the reactive dyeing of cotton” to senior consultancy at the Danish Technological Institute, Clothing and Textile (1995-2004), to university research (2004-2006 at University of Cambridge as SRA on the 2 year “Well Dressed?” project) and from 2007 to 2014 working at the major Danish multi-brand fashion company as “Global Environmental Coordinator.

Soren’s experience the past about 20 years includes field work in China, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Turkey, Italy, Romania, Poland – and Denmark including visits to more than 100 production sites. He is the main and co-author of more than 10 publications about sustainability in the sectors.
