Biography

Sumi joined the University of Cambridge as a Research Analyst in October 2011. In addition to this role, Sumi is the interim Co-ordinator for the Energy@Cambridge Strategic Research Initiative. Energy@Cambridge is a cross-disciplinary initiative drawing together over 250 academics involved in energy-related research. A key aspect of her role is to identify and facilitate collaborative research opportunities, with a focus on university-industry partnerships. Sumi works closely with colleagues in the ISO to develop further international opportunities for the energy-related research community. Sumi also supports the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International Strategy and Dr Toby Wilkinson in having strategic oversight of the University's relationship with the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a leading US sponsor of arts, humanities and social sciences research, and also provides information and analysis of the University's US research funding portfolio.

Prior to arriving at Cambridge, Sumi was the Academic Support Officer for the School of History at the University of St Andrews. This role included being the School's Study Abroad Co-ordinator, Research Facilitator, Honours Adviser and Exams Officer. Sumi holds a PhD from St Andrews in Medieval History, specialising in medieval manuscripts containing travel/geographical texts. She has taught at the Universities of St Andrews and Edinburgh.
